Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal has announced that 6th World Cup Kabaddi (WCK) 2016 will be organised from November 3rd to 17th across 14 sports venues in the Punjab state.
The opening ceremony of 6th World Cup Kabaddi 2016 would be held at Roopnagar and the closing ceremony would be held at Sports Stadium, Jalalabad in Fazilka. Jalalabad's Sports Stadium has a capacity of 20K and most of the places are standing places.
Punjab Deputy CM Sr. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the 6th World Cup Kabaddi 2016 matches would be played at 14 different sports stadiums in 14 districts of Punjab state.
The winner in men’s category will get Rs 2 crore, followed by Rs 1 crore to runner up.
In women’s’ category, the winning team will get Rs 1 crore and runner up Rs 51 lakh.
Total prize money of around Rs 7 crore would be up for grabs in this event, he said.
He strictly instructed the officials to ensure elaborate security arrangements, transportation and accommodation for the participating Kabaddi teams. A sum of Rs 40 lakhs has been stamped for dope tests and the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) has been requested to conduct unplanned tests during the 6th World Cup Kabaddi 2016 tournament. An anti-doping committee has also been formed to ensure that the players refrain from drugs.
